As with all Scout Groups the adult Leaders at 1st Elm Park are volunteers. They give their time freely and willingly and have undergone checks by the police to ensure their suitability. All uniformed Leaders hold a warrant card - an official document awarded by the Scout Association to show they have responsibility for their particular section and that they are undertaking training.
Our Beaver Leader, Caron, has been with us for a few years now but she has just as much enthusiasm as when she first came! Determined to make our Colony one of the strongest in the District she has improved the programme and increased numbers. She has a permanent helper Tony, and a Pack Assistant Mick, which together with a parent rota means many hands make light work!
Our old Cub Leader has recently left us and our Assistant Leader has moved on the University, but one of our parents has agreed to take on the role of 'Akela' and has taken over the running of the pack (together with two of her friend) . We are still aiming to broadening our Cub programme to include more events from the District and the County.
These larger events are always well funded and together with the Challenge and Activity Badges, not to mention Group events, make for an interesting and varied programme.
Our Young Leader Chris, together with Pack Assistant Mick are both looking forward to working with the new Akela.
